In our house if DS doesn't eat his dinner he is not forced to finish it. He has to at least try it but if he doesn't want it or doesn't eat it all we don't make him. He is told not to ask for anything else though. We keep his plate and if he says he's hungry later on he can have another go at his dinner otherwise he can have a drink of milk but that's it! If it's something new that he genuinely doesn't like after trying it I will get him something else but if it's a meal I know he can and will eat and he doesn't want it then it's bad luck buddy, it's this or nothing! Works most of the time too!
